Abstract:
The main objective of this research is the study of export-led growth hypothesis of Iran's economy in a framework which explains comprehensive analysis of two sides of supply and demand. In this regard, checking export-led growth hypothesis of petrochemical industry and presenting strategies are discussed as the other objectives of this study. These hypotheses have been evaluated by using Eviews software and 2SLS econometric technique. By entering exports and overall expenditures of government in production function, specification error in the previous studies solved and from the demand side, the current research shows that export growth highly affects macroeconomic variables such as: consumed expenditures of private sector as well as of government, investment and imports and through this way, it has effects on economic growth of the country. Due to the mentioned items, the effects of export growth on economic growth in comparison of conventional method, will be increased drastically. Hence, one percent rise in export will increase more than one percent (exactly 1.01%) of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Also, the results of export-led growth hypothesis test explains that export rise have more effects on economic growth of the petrochemical industry, when compares to other production factors. As a whole, the achieved results indicate the acceptance of export-led growth hypothesis of Iran's economy and petrochemical industry of the country. Because of this, outward looking approach for National economy and two-stage strategy of investment and outward looking approach (inward looking strategy then outward looking strategy) for Iran's petrochemical industry are proposed.
